Philadelphia, PA – United Ward Leaders of Color endorse Dwight Evans re-election to congress for the 3rd Congressional District.

“We have known Dwight Evans for many years and he has always shown and proven himself to be a devoted advocate for the people of Philadelphia and the state of Pennsylvania since serving in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and now in the US Congress,” said Edgar Campbell, Leader of the 4th Ward in West Philadelphia.

“Dwight not only talks the talk, but he puts his energy and know how behind what he says to get the job done,” continued Edgar Campbell. “He is results oriented and firmly believes he works for the people he represents. When you look at the changes that have occurred in this city over the past 20 years, a lot can be attributed to him.”

“I’m humbled to receive the unanimous endorsement of the United Ward Leaders of Color,” said Congressman Evans. “The support of these community leaders from throughout the 3rd Congressional District is a testimonial of the hard work and dedication I have shown to fighting for communities all over this great city.”

“Even though I might be in the minority in Washington my vote to extend the Children’s Health Insurance Program to 10 years, an additional $300 Million in funding for Community Development Block Grants for affordable housing projects and an extension of the LIHEAP program that helps thousands of Philadelphians to light and heat their homes shows that I can be effective for this city and region no matter the situation,” says Dwight Evans.

The United Ward Leaders of Color endorsement of Congressman Dwight Evans for the 3rd Congressional District joins with the recent endorsements by Governor Tom Wolf and Mayor Jim Kenney. The United Ward Leaders of Color represents approximately 20 wards in Philadelphia.

Congressman Dwight Evans currently represents the 2nd Congressional District and will be running for re-election in the 3rd Congressional District as a result of the PA Supreme Court gerrymandering ruling. Congressman Evans sits on the Small Business and Agriculture committees.
